The Bosnian Authenticity Seal is a mark that Naša Kuća awards to selected producers from Bosnia and Herzegovina. It tells the buyer that a product has been carefully chosen, that it truly comes from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and that we know who made it. This guide explains what the seal represents, what it is for, the criteria we use to award it, and what it is not.
What is the Bosnian Authenticity Seal?
The seal (shown on our site as "Authentic Bosnian product", awarded by Naša Kuća) is our own mark. We award it to suppliers who have passed our selection and whose products meet three conditions: quality of craft, authenticity and transparent origin.
Once a producer receives the seal, it appears on the pages of their products, with a note that we have awarded that supplier the seal of authenticity of a Bosnian product. The seal is carried by selected suppliers, not automatically by every producer in our range.
What does the seal represent?
The seal is a three-part promise:
- Origin. The product is made in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnian origin is not a label; it is the reason the product exists.
- Quality. A product enters our range only when we are convinced we would give it as a gift ourselves.
- Transparency. Behind every product stands a person. On our site each producer has their own page, with a name, a place and a story.
In other words, the seal is not decoration. It sums up the answers to the questions: who made this, where, from what, and why it is good.
What is the authenticity seal for?
For buyers
"Homemade" has become a word attached to almost everything. The seal helps you quickly recognise a product whose origin and maker we can show clearly. It is especially useful for the diaspora and for visitors looking for something truly authentic from Bosnia and Herzegovina rather than a souvenir without a story.
For producers
For a small workshop, apiary or cooperative, the seal is a recommendation visible on every product page. It comes with a producer page of their own, so the story of who works and how they work is heard rather than lost in the catalogue.
For the market
The more buyers ask for a clear origin, the more it pays to work well and honestly. The seal is a small contribution to making quality and authenticity visible.
What criteria do we use?
Every producer goes through our selection. We look at three things:
- Quality of craft. Materials, workmanship and finish must stand behind the name on the product.
- Authenticity. The product must have genuine Bosnian origin and a real connection to the place, knowledge or tradition it comes from.
- Transparent origin. The producer must be ready to show buyers who they are, where they work and how what they sell is made.
The seal is awarded by hand, after we review the producer and their products. It can also be withdrawn: if a producer stops meeting the criteria, the mark is removed.
The seal is not a state certificate
It is important to be clear about what the seal is not. It is a mark of Naša Kuća, not an official state mark. It does not replace:
- protected geographical indications, which are registered with the competent institutions,
- legally required permits, certificates and inspections, especially for food and cosmetics,
- nor does it mean a product is necessarily handmade (we label that separately, with the "Handmade" mark).
Producers remain responsible for complying with regulations. The seal speaks of our selection and our recommendation, not of a product's legal status.
How to recognise the seal on the site
On a product page, look for a box with a round gold "BiH" mark, the heading Authentic Bosnian product and the note "Awarded by Naša Kuća". The box also names the supplier the seal was awarded to. If there is no box, the producer does not have the seal yet.
You can browse all producers on the Producers page, and our range on the Bosnian products and Made in Bosnia pages.
How can a producer get the seal?
- Get in touch. Send a short description of your product and photos via the Contact page.
- Selection. We review the products and their origin against the three criteria above.
- Award. If the producer meets the criteria, they get a producer page with their story and the seal on their products.

Frequently asked questions
Does every product on Naša Kuća have the authenticity seal?
No. The seal is awarded to selected suppliers and shown only with them.
Does the seal mean a product is handmade?
Not necessarily. We label handmade work with a separate mark on the product card. The seal concerns origin, quality and transparency.
Is the seal an official state certificate?
No. It is a mark of Naša Kuća. Legal permits, certificates and protected indications of origin are issued by the competent institutions.
Can the seal be withdrawn?
Yes. If a producer stops meeting the criteria, the seal is removed from their product pages.
Where can I see producers with the seal?
On the Producers page and on individual product pages.
